Groundpiece sofa by Antonio Citterio for Flexform

Dezeen Showroom: Italian architect and designer Antonio Citterio worked with furniture brand Flexform on a sprawling sofa that facilitates working, dining and lounging.
The Groundpiece sofa is defined by its ample goose down cushions and integrated armrests, which respond to how sofas are now used for multiple household activities.

These armrests are console-like, and thus can also act as side tables for dining and working, as well as shelving for storing or displaying objects.
Users can select from padded and upholstered armrest segments or ones made from metal and finished with cowhide detailing.

The modular sofa system can also be specified in a range of upholstery materials. allowing it to seamlessly integrate into a variety of domestic interior styles.
"Groundpiece grew out of the observation of everyday life. A seating system designed to seamlessly welcome different activities – from relaxation to work – in contemporary living," said designer Antonio Citterio.
