Silva collection by Union Design for KFI Studios
Dezeen Showroom: American studio Union Design and brand KFI Studios have put a characterful twist on classic bentwood furniture in this collection of chairs and tables.
Union Design and KFI Studios aimed to combine timeless craftsmanship with modern and approachable design in the Silva collection, using rounded legs, bevelled edges and a subtle satin finish to celebrate the beauty of natural beech wood.
The collection encompasses a guest chair, lounge chair, stool and tables in multiple heights, with the steam-bent rear leg on the chairs serving as a distinctive central gesture.
It creates a jaunty curve from floor to headrest across the seating designs, and is particularly pronounced in the slightly reclined lounge chair, which the brand says pushes the boundaries of what is possible with the bending technique.
"Silva is designed to celebrate the beauty of wood while creating forms that feel approachable and natural," said Union Design founder Jeff Theesfeld.
"Every curve, edge, and contour was carefully considered to highlight the material, create comfort and offer a sense of simplicity."
Designed with workplace and hospitality settings in mind, the Silva collection is available with optional upholstery on the seating. It comes in seven wood stain finishes.
