Lauro lighting collection by Marset
Dezeen Showroom: Spanish brand Marset has reissued one of its early lighting ranges by designers P Aragay and J Pérez Mateo, which recalls the aesthetics of the 1970s.
First released in 1973, Lauro lighting is notable for its continuous steel stem and base, made at a time when bending steel was a huge challenge.
Marset describes it as a product that highlights technical achievements made half a century ago, while simultaneously showing that strong design doesn't age.
It has released Lauro in its original table and floor versions, both featuring robust tubular stems that seem to pool onto surfaces, as well as putting a twist on the design with a new wall lamp.
All variations feature shades that can be moved up or down the stem and rotated to change the direction of the light's cast.
"[Lauro's] structure and materials bring to mind the emotional language of the past, enabling us to reconnect with it," said Marset.
"At a time like the present, there are contemporary locations that require beautiful objects with volume, that express, inspire and fascinate."
