Kora kitchen by Antonio Citterio for Arclinea

Dezeen Showroom: architect Antonio Citterio and Italian brand Arclinea aimed to bring a fresh design language into the kitchen with Kora, their new rounded kitchen island.
Fluid curves, a sculptural presence and monolithic materiality meet in Kora, which is intended to form the heart of the kitchen, integrating food preparation, cooking and storage.

The design is based on Citterio's careful study of the different elements of a kitchen island, which he reconceived to create a continuous form that can be ordered in marble, wood, stone, polished or PVD-coated steel.
"Over the years we have worked on innovating the kitchen area, particularly the island," said Citterio.
"With Kora we pursue another evolution: an island defined by curved forms that introduces greater fluidity into the space and allows for more flexible placement, without orthogonal constraints."

Kora is designed to work with a selection of tables – Folia, Vesper and Orbita – that extend the island's sinuous design language with round or leaf-shaped tabletops.
The tables allow preparation, dining and interaction to coexist harmoniously, and they can either overlap with the island or stand independently within the space.
