This week a 60-building data centre by Gensler was unveiled

This week on Dezeen, the first images of a data centre development, which is set to be one of the largest in the world, were revealed.

The Stratos Hyperscale Data Center in Box Elder County, Utah, will be designed by US studio Gensler. When complete the development will contain 60 large data centres.

Another data centre design by Gensler was also revealed this week.

The studio released renders of Thistle Data Center Campus in Arizona, USA, which will have a weathering steel facade. According to Gensler, the project was designed to "offer a meaningful civic contribution".

Foster + Partners is set to stand trial in London

UK architecture studio Foster + Partners faced court this week. The firm is set to stand trial over alleged health and safety failings at The Corniche towers in London, where a man was killed in 2018 by a window pane that fell from the building's penthouse.

Together with developer St James Group, contractor Lindner Prater and engineering consultant Wintech, the studio is facing charges for exposing people to risks related to "the outward opening penthouse window vents".

Two well-known design studios announced closures this week. British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby are closing their eponymous London studio after three decades and will instead establish their own independent studios.

And after 20 years in business, designer Michael Anastassiades is closing his lighting brand and will dedicate his free time  "solely to creating things".

In Paris, New York studio Selldorf Architects and Paris-based Studios Architecture are set to add subterranean entrances to the Musée du Louvre after winning a competition. It is the museum's biggest renovation for 35 years.

The city also saw an artistic intervention on its Pont Neuf bridge, which French street artist JR covered with an inflatable cave-like installation that pays homage to the work of artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude.

Google and Gentle Monster are releasing AI sunglasses

Technology company Google teamed up with two eyewear brands, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, to launch AI-powered Intelligent Eyewear. It will release an audio-only version in the autumn and a version with a small in-lens display later.

The company also announced a new visual identity for its Gemini AI model, with new typography and "vibrant colours", at its annual IO developer conference.

Popular projects this week included a pair of Japanese apartments arranged around translucent "huts", a cabin shaped by "rock, river and fire" and a London house with a loggia extension.
