Design festivals Singapore Design Week, Helsinki Design Week and London Design Festival are among the architecture and design events featured in Dezeen Events Guide this September.

Other events taking place during the month include Copenhagen Architecture Biennial, World Design Congress, Design Shenzhen, Chicago Architecture Biennial and Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism.

Helsinki Design Week
5 to 14 September 2025, Finland

2025 marks the 20th edition of Helsinki Design Week with a programme of exhibitions, talks, open studios and showrooms, and fashion shows.

Although the main festival location is Suomitalo at Lönnrotinkatu 5, one of the largest events, design fair Habitare, takes place at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre from 10 to 14 September.

World Design Congress
9 to 10 September 2025, UK

World Design Congress hosts its 34th biannual conference, organised by the Design Council, with the programme of talks addressing the theme Design for Planet.

Speakers include architects Norman Foster and Mariam Issoufou, designer Thomas Heatherwick, climate activist Charlot Magayi, and designer and musician Brian Eno.

The talks take place at London's Barbican Centre.

Singapore Design Week
11 to 21 September 2025, Singapore

This year's edition of Singapore Design Week follows the theme Nation by Design, celebrating 60 years of Singapore's independence.

There are four participating districts in the city: Bras Basah.Bugis, Marina, Orchard and Singapore Science Park.

Programme highlights include FIND – Design Fair Asia 2025, an annual furniture, lighting, kitchenware and homeware fair running from 11 to 13 September at Marina Bay Sands.

London Design Festival
13 to 21 September 2025, UK

London Design Festival hosts its 23rd edition with a nine-day programme taking place across 10 participating districts.

The event hosts installations, exhibitions, talks, product launches and open showrooms, exploring materiality, architecture, craft, fashion, furniture, and graphic and urban design.

Dezeen has launched its festival guide and map for the London Design Festival 2025.

Design Shenzhen
18 to 21 September 2025, China

Design Shenzhen is a trade show, hosting its third iteration in 2025, returning with an exhibition and two conferences: the Global Luxury Property Design conference and the Design Technology and Creativity conference.

Organised by Design Shanghai, the fair spotlights furniture, lighting, textiles, materials, decorative pieces and kitchen and bathroom products over four days.

The trade show takes place at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Copenhagen Architecture Biennial
18 September to 19 October 2025, Denmark

The inaugural edition of Copenhagen Architecture Biennial takes place this year, led by the CEO and founder of CAFx, Josephine Michau.

The month-long biennial sees more than 250 events taking place across Copenhagen, including the Slow Pavilions, Slow Down exhibition, Slow Down film screening and Assemble! Symposium.

Chicago Architecture Biennial
19 September 2025 to 28 February 2026, USA

Shift: Architecture in Times of Radical Change is the theme for the upcoming Chicago Architecture Biennial, exploring how architecture and design can mitigate global issues.

Architect and academic Florencia Rodriguez has been announced as the artistic director for the sixth edition.

Tours, talks and exhibitions are scheduled to run until February 2026.

Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism
26 September to 18 November 2025, South Korea

British designer Thomas Heatherwick is the general director of the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2025, leading the festival programme.

The biennale has organised exhibitions, pavilions, forums and talks and workshops that seek to encourage Seoul inhabitants to plan the future of their city, as well as celebrate with an opening ceremony.
