Promotion: creative platform Budapest Select returns to Milan design week with Patterns of Being, an exhibition that unpacks contemporary creative responses to global technological, social and ecological questions.

Organised by Creative Hungary, formerly known as the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency, Patterns of Being is Budapest Select's fifth consecutive exhibition showcasing Hungarian talent in Milan during the city's design week.

This year, the exhibition is curated by Hungarian arts and creative consultant Hanna Imre, bringing together 65 projects by 26 designers and brands in the heart of Milan's 5VIE design district.

Each of the works aims to offer a creative response to the myriad technological, social and ecological questions facing our planet.

Patterns of Being is split into five themes – current, aspiration, fate, cycle and responsibility – and asks its visitors to consider how human existence has been shaped by the intersections of design and art.

According to Creative Hungary, rather than solely proposing speculative features, the multidisciplinary projects on display spotlight what we can do today to be "ethically aware" in a rapidly changing world.

While the works vary in their approach, they are united by a shared curiosity for the evolving relationship between humans and their environment, explained the agency.

Founded in 2018, Budapest Select was established to give more visibility to Hungarian designers and brands on the international stage.

"The exhibition continues Creative Hungary's mission to amplify Hungarian design internationally through cohesive, high-quality showcases," said the agency.

"Budapest Select – Patterns of Being invites Milan design week audiences to encounter a contemporary Hungarian creative scene that is reflective rather than declarative, rooted in material knowledge yet critically engaged with the present moment."
