Eight architecture and design events in March from Dezeen Events Guide
Perth Design Week, the International Mass Timber Conference and Nairobi Design Week are among the architecture and design events featured in Dezeen Events Guide this March.
Other events taking place during the month include DW! Sao Paulo Design Week, China International Furniture Fair Guangzhou, Home Sweet Home, Matter and Shape and Design Shanghai.
DW! Sao Paulo Design Week
5 to 15 March, Brazil
2026 marks the 15th anniversary of DW! Sao Paulo Design Week, with hundreds of events taking place across the Brazilian city, including galleries, shops, education centres and public squares.
The 11-day programme includes exhibitions, talks, tours and other fringe events exploring design, architecture and fashion.
Matter and Shape
6 to 9 March, France
Matter and Shape is an annual design fair entering its third year, presenting pieces from upcoming and established global design brands.
Taking place in Paris's Jardin des Tuileries, this year's fair follows the theme Scale, highlighting proportions and the relationship between design and space.
Nairobi Design Week
7 to 15 March, Kenya
Let's Be Human is the theme of the 2026 iteration of Nairobi Design Week, which marks 11 years of the festival.
The theme outlines how design can avoid rigidity and embrace human traits, such as imperfection and compassion.
While this year's venue is yet to be announced, last year's festival was located at the Waterfront Mall, hosting exhibitions, talks and workshops.
Home Sweet Home
11 March to 25 April, Belgium
MAD Brussels presents Home Sweet Home, an exhibition that explores the meaning of a home through the animal kingdom, showcasing birdhouses by a range of designers.
Max Lamb, Audrey Large, Philippe Malouin, Sabine Marcelis and Muller Van Severen are among the designers participating in the display.
Design Shanghai
19 to 22 March, China
Trade show Design Shangahi returns to the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, spotlighting over 450 brands across four days.
The event hosts a talks programme and exhibition, which displays products in the following categories: Furniture and Lighting; Kitchen, Bathroom and Systems Design; New Materials and Applications; and Living and Lifestyle.
Perth Design Week
20 to 26 March, Australia
Designers, architects and artists in Perth and Western Australia are celebrated during Perth Design Week, a seven-day festival that honours fashion, graphic, service, landscape and product design.
Venues such as the Liberty Theatre, the Mark at the State Buildings and WA Museum Boola Bardip are taking part in the event programming.
China International Furniture Fair Guangzhou
18 to 31 March, China
China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) Guangzhou hosts two events in 2026, with the fair highlighting home furniture and textiles from 18 to 21 March and workspace design from 28 to 31 March.
This year's theme Connect. Create. outlines the importance of creating with the planet and communities in mind.
The event takes place in the China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex.
International Mass Timber Conference
29 March to 2 April, USA
Over 100 speakers are taking part in the International Mass Timber Conference, a five-day symposium that hosts installations, tours and opportunities to network with industry professionals.
The event returns to Portland, Oregon, USA, located in the Oregon Convention Center.
