Shinnoki Terra Sapele panels by Decospan

Dezeen Showroom: Belgian brand Decospan has launched wood veneer surface panels that are prefinished with six layers of varnish to deliver the tactility of real sapele timber without the risk of wear.

The Shinnoki Terra Sapele panels combine deep mahogany tones and a natural, harmonious grain that avoids the repetitive patterns of traditional book-matching.

Six layers of varnish help to create a durable, matte finish that is scratch-resistant and minimises glare.

"Shinnoki bridges the gap between traditional craft and modern performance," said Decospan product manager Ann-Marie Debaveye. "It allows architects to specify real wood for large-scale applications without the unpredictability of raw veneers."

Terra Sapele was designed to create a consistent backdrop for both retail settings and residential spaces, such as RR Interieur's Kalvekeetdijk residence (pictured).

Here, the designers used matching edge banding and laminates, allowing for seamless transitions between walls, doors and bespoke cabinetry.
