Morrison Hannah chair by Andrew Morrison and Bruce Hannah for Knoll
Dezeen Showroom: US brand Knoll has reissued Andrew Morrison and Bruce Hannah's 1973 task chair, known for its friendly approach to design for the workplace.
Knoll worked with Hannah and the family of Morrison to update the Morrison Hannah chair in 2024, and it is now following up its North American rerelease with a European launch, with production localised in Italy.
The chair was marketed by Knoll at the time as being "easy to manufacture, easy to reupholster, easy to live with and easy to love", and the brand contends that its approachable and comfort-centric design fits right in with the hybrid office culture of 2026.
"It was a happy chair in 1973, and after the recent changes we made to it, it's even happier today," said Hannah. "If someone says they finished a design, they're not a designer. You never finish."
The updates to the chair include more supportive foam densities, more targeted lumbar support and the addition of four degrees of forward tilt to the rocking mechanism to support active sitting.
The reissued Morrison Hannah chair follows cradle-to-cradle principles and is made mostly of cast aluminium with an internal seat construction made from wood.
It is available either armless or with fixed arms, and with either a five-star base with casters or a four-star base with glides. There are six frame finish options and a wide choice of upholstery, enabling playful customisation.
