Desert Design Week Scottsdale Spring and Milan design week are among the architecture and design events featured in Dezeen Events Guide this month.

Other events taking place this April include Bogota Design Festival, PAD Paris and Rural Design Week.

PAD Paris
8 to 12 April, France

Returning with its 28th edition, design fair PAD invites global design collectors to Paris, who seek to explore the dialogue between historical and contemporary design.

The show welcomes galleries such as Julien Spitzer, Galerie JAG, Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Modernity, Victoria Poniatowski Design, Yoomoota Gallery, Yves Salomon Editions, Galerie Kreo and Spazio Nobile.

Throughout the year, PAD will also host its Saint-Tropez and London editions.

Desert Design Week Scottsdale Spring
16 to 23 April, USA

Biannual festival Desert Design Week Scottsdale returns for its third iteration this spring, with the theme Collected in Dialog examining design as interconnected experiences rather than isolated objects.

The eight-day event features exhibitions, design talks, workshops, markets, tours and showroom experiences. This includes a makers market spotlighting the craft of artists like Lauryn Alvarez, Perro Y Arena and Bettina Chow, an installation and talk by New Mexico textile artist Rhiannon Griego and an interactive workshop led by JHL Design.

The events celebrate local communities and conversations while highlighting how human relationships can shape creative processes.

Milan design week
20 to 26 April, Italy

Milan design week returns with fringe events and activities, collectively known as fuorisalone, taking place across the city, as well as the 64th edition of design fair Salone del Mobile running from 21 to 26 April.

Each year, the events have taken place across participating design districts, including Brera Design District, Isola Design District, 5Vie Design Week, Porta Venezia Design District, Tortona Design Week and Montenapoleone District.

Dezeen will soon launch its digital guide to the festival, outlining the key and influential events taking place during the week, alongside an interactive map.

Bogota Design Festival
22 to 25 April, Colombia

Celebrating its 12th anniversary in April, Bogota Design Festival aims to pioneer design innovation and conversation.

The four-day event spotlights a range of design disciplines through its exhibits, such as visual arts, industrial and artisanal objects, graphic and digital design, gastronomy, interior design and fashion.

The event aims to showcase the variety of Colombian design, as well as the impact it has had on the city's identity.

Rural Design Week
27 April to 3 May, Italy

Rural Design Week hosts a seven-day programme of eco-focused design events, inviting international creatives to the Tammaro Valley in Italy.

The latest edition of the festival explores the theme Rural Metabolism, showcasing design solutions for the regeneration of ecosystems in rural and mountainous areas through installations, workshops, talks and tours.

Each year, the event aims to raise awareness of the natural, social and cultural aspects that shape communities, and how design should offer systemic solutions to global issues.
