Synsisal carpet tiles by Curran

Dezeen Showroom: US brand Curran has added a tile to its range of carpets that mimic the look of fibrous textiles made from sisal plants, introducing an option for large-scale contract projects.
The Synsisal carpet tiles mimic the look of sisal, with the high standard demanded by Curran, which has been working with the natural fibres for over 30 years.

According to designers Stephanie Piché and Cristina Orozco Cuevas, their goal was to create a synthetic textile so visually authentic that a person could walk into a space and never guess it wasn't natural sisal.
To achieve this, they focused on recreating the textile's complex riven texture and colour, which comes from intertwining strands of sisal yarn, until they were satisfied that their creation delivered the same visual richness.

Made from 100 per cent recycled Econyl polyamide yarn, Synsisal is a circular product that can be fully recycled and is durable enough for high-traffic environments such as offices and hospitality spaces.
It is designed for straightforward dry installation without requiring traditional toxic adhesives, and single tiles can be easily removed and replaced if damaged to extend the covering's overall lifespan. Synsisal is available in four colours.
