Dezeen Showroom: Spanish design brand Nanimarquina has published an array of its rugs on Dezeen Showroom, from those informed by strings of beads to others that mimic human faces in profile.

German artist Sabine Finkenauer worked with Nanimarquina on a collection of bisected circular rugs decorated with contrasting colours.

Pearls collection rugs come in various colourways and formats

The Pearls range consists of standalone circle-shaped rugs, as well as longer rugs and runners that comprise a series of two-tone circles joined together in a linear formation reminiscent of a string of beads.

The rugs aim to bring a sense of joyfulness and colour into interiors, and their 100 per cent virgin wool materiality makes them both hardwearing and pleasant to the touch.

The brand's Colorado rug comes in four colourways and four sizes

Colorado rugs are the result of a joint effort between the brand and French designer Inga Sempé, who aimed to blend the contemporary and the traditional through the use of various hand knotting and hand-weaving techniques.

The resulting rugs have a streaked finish that comes in a range of earthy tones named Ashes, Clay, Moss and Sand.

The Chillida collection is united by its monochromatic aesthetic

The brand's Chillida rug collection comprises four individual rugs that each draw on the work of Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida.

Each rug comprises a pure white background decorated with black lines and/or lower pile areas, all referencing either his finished works or quick drawings found in sketchbooks.

Wabisabi rugs by Nanimarquina
The Wabisabi rug has a patchy appearance echoing the aesthetic it is named after

The Japanese philosophy of Wabi-sabi – which includes the celebration of imperfections as one of its core tenets – informed the patchwork-style Wabisabi rug, created by the brand's founder Nani Marquina.

A pair of contrasting colours are used for each rug, which results in a two-tone appearance further differentiated by the use of different weaving styles.

Side-on views of human faces manifest as graphic rugs in the Talk talk range, which came about as a result of another collaboration between Nanimarquina and a contemporary creative.

Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon created the collection using a motif found readily throughout his portfolio, and the rugs are available in various sizes and muted colourways.

The rugs foster a playful feeling where they are used

Nani Marquina – daughter of celebrated Catalan industrial designer Rafael Marquina – founded her eponymous design brand Nanimarquina in 1987.

The brand specialises in the production of contemporary rugs from natural materials such as wool and silk, and prioritises the use of hand knotting and hand weaving techniques in its manufacturing processes.

It frequently collaborates with eminent designers on its collections, including Inge Sempé and Jaime Hayon.
