School statement:
"Graphic Design Capstone is where students bring together everything they have learned to create self-directed thesis projects that tackle real-world challenges.
"Through in-depth research, ideation and iteration, students develop design solutions that reflect their interests and creative voice.
"Each project demonstrates advanced technical skill, strong conceptual thinking and a thoughtful approach to design research."
Presto by Kelvin Wong
"I set out to develop a meal kit brand that promotes better eating habits by offering meals that can be prepared depending on how much time one has – perfect for busy college students and young professionals.
"For this project, I wanted to break out of my comfort zone and design my capstone with the intention of making it a standout piece in my portfolio.
"I felt that I often default to the same aesthetic, so I challenged myself to explore new fonts, colours and design elements that I don't typically use."

Rouclean by Tammy Diewtragulchai
"In under 10 years, the amount of children doing housework decreased from 88 per cent to 28 per cent.
"Interviews from many high schoolers also found that they felt unprepared to live alone and wished they had classes to help them learn these skills.
"So, to help more people know how to take care of themself, I wanted to create a brand that would teach children how to do chores.
"This would be provided through a school club that also had a mobile app for additional accessibility."

Maya and Sunny by Juliette Jaensch
"Today, many children spend less than 30 minutes a day outside but over seven hours on screens.
"This growing disconnect from nature is known as Nature Deficit Disorder, a term coined by Richard Louv.
"While this is not an official medical condition, it highlights the negative effects of reduced outdoor time – such as increased anxiety, lower attention spans and a weaker sense of environmental responsibility.
"If children don't experience nature firsthand, how can we expect them to care about protecting it?
"I want to explore ways to reconnect kids with nature through education, storytelling and hands-on activities – my project aims to help nurture future environmental stewards."

Lookout by Ryan Vellinga
"With the permit reservation process that is currently in place, how can I improve the experience of planning multi-day hiking trips with complicated permit applications?
"For the new hiker, navigating the permit process for popular trails can be confusing and discouraging.
"Although permits help maintain a sustainable future for wilderness areas, obtaining information on the permit process shouldn't be as frustrating as it is for those wanting to pursue once-in-a-lifetime backcountry adventures."

Renu by Reanu Elises
"With the constant pursuit of the latest trends and the allure of affordable prices, people tend to rapidly buy and throw clothing away without knowing their environmental harm.
"People throw away clothes quickly because of our culture that encourages frequent fashion changes and sees clothing as easily replaceable.
"My goal is to create an app that uses AI to suggest ways to upcycle/repair old clothing, promoting sustainable and creative fashion choices, advocating for the idea that old clothing holds value beyond donation or disposal.
"Utilising AI through a modern and minimal aesthetic encourages users to actively engage in the process of extending the lifespan of their garments."

Art Bridge Vegas by Lane Sheehy
"Art Bridge Vegas is a directory of locally engaged arts organisations, spaces, events and opportunities. We want to make it easier for emerging and professional artists to navigate and participate in the arts scene.
"Local artists opened up about information on the art scene being spread out, hard to find or gate-kept. We want to bridge the gap between artists and the art world by putting all of this information in one place."

Play Out the Box by Melody Herrera
"Due to the demands of the workforce, rising living expenses, and the mindset that hobbies don't provide value without monetary gain, having a hobby is difficult to sustain.
"In my research, all my interviewees mentioned their lack of time due to work, expressed exhaustion from their jobs, and noted how easily frustration can lead to abandoning hobbies.
"I wanted to create something that addressed all these issues as well as made finding hobbies easier to sustain."

Venus by Xhitlali Cebrero
"Venus is a mobile app that acts as an archive of fashionable brands that are all ethical and sustainable.
"With the rising issue that is fast fashion and its environmental impact, fast fashion brands and their oversaturated trends are sought out by many into fashion.
"My drive for this project comes from wanting to be able to have a space in which young people who have a love for fashion but don't know where to find ethical fashion choices can browse and scroll through images of fashion pieces that come from brands that are sustainable and ethical."

Bread by Nathan Guerrero
"In the face of rising costs of living, younger generations are struggling to maintain financial stability while living sustainably. To address this problem, I developed Bread, an app designed to make budgeting approachable, engaging and enjoyable for young adults.
"Bread presents a streamlined interface that allows users to review each spending category individually, providing faster access to relevant information.
"Users also receive daily or weekly summaries of their overall spending to track their progress. With gamification features, users can earn achievements by staying on budget or challenging their friends to spend less."

Prep Air by Keren Sagastume
"In today's fast-paced world, where time is precious, Prep Air's innovative drone delivery service caters to dynamic lifestyles and diverse dietary needs, particularly addressing the time constraints of millennials and Gen Z.
"With hectic schedules filled with work, social commitments and personal pursuits, young consumers often struggle to find time for grocery shopping and meal preparation.
"Whether they follow specific dietary preferences, such as vegetarian or high-protein diets, or seek high-quality ingredients for their culinary creations, drone delivery ensures swift and reliable access.
"Young consumers can effortlessly explore their culinary creativity, experimenting with new recipes and cuisines without the hassle of traditional grocery shopping or the limitations of subscription meal kits."
