Vitreon steel by Laufen

Dezeen Showroom: Swiss brand Laufen has added a new glazed steel material to its bathroom product catalogue, which is "smooth as glass and strong as steel".

Vitreon steel is a composite material that has the strength and malleability of steel as well as the chemical resistance of glass.

It can be used in conjunction with a range of Laufen's basins.

"In bathroom environments, where cleanliness, ease of maintenance and durability are essential, glazed steel excels," said Laufen.

"Its pore-free, seamless surface resists the accumulation of dirt and bacteria, ensuring an impeccably hygienic and effortlessly pristine finish."

Designed to be highly hygienic, colour-fast, fully corrosion-protected and scratch-resistant, the material comes in various thicknesses and finishes, including deep colours and metallic tones.

"Smooth as glass and strong as steel, Vitreon steel adds a new dimension to Laufen's material world," said the brand.
