For more than a decade, Architizer’s A+Awards have recognized the world’s best architecture, celebrating projects that propel design culture forward while responding to real-world challenges. Now in its 14th season, the program returns to one of architecture’s most fundamental values: craft.

As the pace of digital change accelerates, architects are asking urgent questions about their place in an increasingly automated world. This season, the A+Awards embraces this moment of reflection, celebrating a global resurgence in architectural craft.

This year’s theme highlights the architects who put human ingenuity at the center of their work, translating a rigorous attention to detail, a deep understanding of materials and processes, and a profound commitment to context into architecture that is not only technically exceptional but experientially rich.

In an age defined by abstraction and automation, a renewed focus on craft helps to bring architecture back to its tangible, real-world roots. It connects design to labor, material to place, and buildings to the people who make and use them.

We’ll be exploring architectural craft throughout the coming season, presenting extraordinary A+Award-winning projects as case studies that promise to inform and inspire this year’s entrants.

Reflecting the return to craft, the 14th A+Awards invites firms to submit a range of timely new categories, emphasizing key design elements that distinguish architecture from pure shelter and structure. New and expanded categories include:

  • Best in Craft Firm: For architecture and/or interior design firms demonstrating exceptional mastery of craft, materiality and architectural detailing. Projects should showcase the firm’s commitment to material innovation, construction excellence, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Architecture +Context: Architectural excellence is rooted in understanding and respecting the local context. This category celebrates projects that demonstrate a profound connection to their surroundings, designed in response with the cultural, historical and ecological landscape, and embodying a strong sense of place.
  • Architecture +Craft: The beauty of architecture often lies in the details, where the precision of craftsmanship comes to the fore. From the elegant intersection of building elements to carefully crafted architectural ‘moments,’ this category honors projects that excel in the fine art of construction detailing.
  • Architecture +Home: The concept of home can exist beyond residential boundaries. This category celebrates projects of any typology that cultivate intimacy, comfort and connection. Recognizing designs that foster relationships, embrace human scale, and craft spaces where people feel genuinely at home — whether in residential environments, workplaces, institutional, cultural or public spaces.
