Cosmic stool by Mati Sipiora

Dezeen Showroom: Polish designer Mati Sipiora has created playful tension between form and material in this stool, which looks like it is made from rows of miniature metal pillows.
Part of Sipiora's Futuroom collection, the Cosmic stool juxtaposes the cold hardness of metal and the inviting softness of fabric cushions in its sculptural form.

The form creates "an unexpected dialogue" between material and sensation said Mati Sipiora's eponymous studio, which self-produces his designs from a family-run workshop in Poland.
The stool has a futuristic look – which inspired the wider collection's name, Futuroom – that is bolstered by its choice of finishes: polished stainless steel or bright block colours.

"Born from Mati's ongoing experiments with material, the Cosmic Stool represents years of exploration into the possibilities of texture, form and craftsmanship," said the studio.
"By challenging the conventional perception of metal as rigid and unyielding, Mati has transformed it into something fluid, warm and sensual."
