We also rounded up the top rebrands of 2025 – from restaurant Cracker Barrel's failed rebrand to the barely noticeable tweaks to retailers Amazon and Walmart, along with the top museums and galleries of the year.

The 2025 review started with a look at the top houses of 2025, which included a brutalist-castle-like home and a glass-brick fronted house.

Foster + Partners unveils long-awaited Zayed National Museum on Saadiyat Island

British studio Foster + Partners' long-awaited Zayed National Museum opened on Saudi Arabia's Saadiyat Island.

The museum is the centrepiece of Saadiyat Island's cultural district and celebrates the history, culture and landscape of the Emirates across seven galleries.

Dutch studio Mecanoo's Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, which measures 35,000 square metres, also completed on Saadiyat Island this week.

Es Devlin erects monumental rotating library on Miami beach

In the US, Miami art week kicked off, showcasing a number of design and art installations. Among them was British designer Es Devlin's massive rotating library, Library of Us, which was installed on a beachfront.

Visitors to the event could also enjoy artist Pilar Zeta's chromatic colonnade and design studio Stephen Burks Man Made's The Lost Cloth Object.

In an opinion piece this week, interior designer Claire Keane looked at the challenges of designing living rooms with large TVs.

Donald Trump removes James McCrery as White House ballroom architect

US president Donald Trump has dismissed James McCrery as the lead architect for his White House ballroom. Instead, the project will be led by Shalom Baranes Associates.

Trump has also called for a redesign of the Eero Saarinen-designed Dulles Airport near Washington DC. His Department of Transportation announced plans to "replace or build on" the existing main terminal.
