Dezeen Showroom: Italian brand Dimore Surfaces drew on wabi-sabi principles for its Midas Collection of sintered stone surfaces.

The Midas Collection seeks to replicate and celebrate the irregularities found in natural stone, in line with the Japanese concept of finding beauty in imperfection and the passing of time.

Dimore Surfaces also looked to the tranquility and tactility of Japanese Zen Gardens.

"Each surface is a meticulous recreation of nature's subtle irregularities: delicate ripples, soft scratches, and gentle tonal shifts," said the brand.

The collection is available in five colours

Dimore's sintered stone process sees the raw material heated to more than 1,200 degrees celsius and compressed with 44,000 tons of pressure, making it exceptionally strong, according to the brand.

Midas's slate-like effect is achieved thanks to its Red Dot-winning Brillio surface finish, which is anti-stain and scratch resistant.

The collection is available in five colours and a range of sizes.
