Germany-based studio Kéré Architecture has designed its own football kit for its team to wear in Berlin's architecture football championship.

The shirts, which won a tournament award for Best Jersey Design, were designed by Kéré Architecture architect Ho-Jae Lee following a competition at the studio.

Lee's design was directly informed by studio founder Diébédo Francis Kéré's design for the Sarbalé Ke installation, which formed part of Coachella 2019.

"The jersey design emerged from an internal competition at Kéré Architecture, won by architect Ho-Jae Lee – demonstrating how ideas from architectural projects can translate into unexpected contexts, from large-scale installations to sportswear," said the studio.

The yellow and dark blue shirt incorporates the characteristic triangular geometry that decorated the installation.

The triangles are a recurring motif in the studio's work, featuring on the Serpentine Pavilion in London, the Thomas Sankara Memorial in Burkina Faso and the proposed Las Vegas Museum of Art.

The pattern wraps around the entire shirt, with the word Kéré printed on the back above the numbers. The kit was complete with simple white shorts with a blue and yellow side stripe.

An alternative blue and maroon version of the strip was used as a goalkeeper kit.

Kéré Architecture unveiled the kit at Berlin's ABC Cup architecture football championship earlier this year.

The studio's kit was named the best in the tournament, which featured teams from 13 other Berlin-based studios, including GMP, Sauerbruch Hutton, David Chipperfield Architects and Max Dudler.

Kéré Architecture was founded in 2005 by Kéré, who was named the winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2022 and in 2023 was listed among Time's 100 most influential climate leaders.

Recent projects by the studio include a community centre in Uganda and a Kenyan education campus informed by termite mounds.
