Cerene Skylight by Ahrend
Dezeen Showroom: Dutch office furniture brand Ahrend has designed a light fixture that is integrated into office pod ceilings to mimic the look of blue sky through a skylight.
Compatible with Ahrend's Meet and Meet XL pods, the Cerene Skylight casts realistic natural daylight into indoor spaces that would be otherwise dark and without sunlight.
It is made with lighting company Signify's NatureConnect technology, and Ahrend says the fixture mimics a skylight so convincingly that it is indistinguishable from a real window.
The lighting design is meant to counter the negative effects of working in windowless spaces or even ones dominated by artificial lighting, where energy levels can slump and people can feel disconnected from nature.
The light helps to boost alertness and focus, and Ahrend says its studies have shown that employees report missing daylight less with the Cerene Skylight installed.
There are three lighting settings – Energise for bright light, Relax for softer light and Off – and they are managed from a three-button control panel.
