Promotion: Tile of Spain has launched its annual competition calling for creatives to submit their projects to its 2025 awards, which celebrate the innovative use of Spanish ceramics.

The annual Tile of Spain Awards in Architecture and Interior Design is in its 24th year and is organised by The Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers Association (ASCER).

The competition champions outstanding architecture and interior projects that use Spanish-made ceramic tiles in fresh and creative ways.

The competition is divided into three categories: architecture, interior design and a final degree project by a student or graduate.

The architecture and interior design category winners will each be awarded €8,000, while the final degree project winner will receive €3,000.

Last year's architecture winner went to designer Javier López Bautista for his creation of a viewing point that also functions as a place for rest.

The 2024 interior design winner went to Hill House by design studio studioNOLET – a renovation of a home built in the 1980s.

This year, new subcategories have been introduced in a bid to recognise a greater diversity of projects.

Designers will submit to the subcategories – within both architecture and interior design – based on the type of ceramic material used, including works featuring dry-pressed porcelain stoneware or buildings that use other ceramic materials such as mosaics or terracotta.

"This change aims to recognise and reward a wider variety of projects and approaches to the use of ceramics in architecture and interior design," said Tile of Spain. "As a result, the number of awards in these fields increases from two to four."

Judging will be chaired by the architect Julio Touza Rodríguez, alongside interior designer Carmen Baselga; the editor of the magazine ROOM Diseño, Antonio Jesús Luna, and the president of the Castellón College of Architects, Susana Babiloni.

The competition is open to entries from anywhere in the world and is free to enter until 20 October 2025, which marks the closing date for submissions.

Submitted projects must use ceramic floor and/or wall tiles manufactured by a company belonging to ASCER. Judging will take place in November 2025 in Castellón, Spain.
