This week on Dezeen, we revealed that construction has begun on Hidden Marina, the first segment of The Line megacity that is being built as part of Saudi Arabia's Neom project.

The Hidden Marina development will comprise three interconnected modules with 80,000 residential units and encompass 350,000 square metres. It will stretch 2.5 kilometres in length and rise 500 meters high and, as the name suggests, will have a man-made marina.

According to Neom chief development officer Denis Hickey, the building will dwarf "global benchmarks such as the Burj Khalifa."

Al-Ahly football stadium by Gensler — Gensler reveals football stadium with sunken pitch as "landmark venue" for Egypt

Also unveiled this week was architecture studio Gensler's design for an undulating stadium outside Cairo. The 42,000-seat stadium will be the first home for the Al-Ahly football club.

Gensler's design features a sunken pitch, designed to comply with height restrictions due to flight paths as the stadium is located close to Sphinx International Airport, between Cairo and Alexandria.

Alloy development brooklyn — Alloy to build "world's tallest Passive House" skyscraper in Brooklyn

Architecture studio and developer Alloy Development has released images of One Third Avenue, a 63-storey skyscraper set to become the "world's tallest Passive House" and the second-tallest building in Brooklyn. The tower will be 220 metres tall.

We also took a closer look at the existing and upcoming skyscrapers in the city of Balneário Camboriú, in Brazil, which is home to four of South America's five tallest buildings and has become a hotbed of construction.

Inside the Thames Tideway Tunnel — "Super sewer fully up and running" in London to protect River Thames

The Thames Tideway tunnel, a 25-kilometre-long sewer, has been completed in London. The "super sewer" was designed to divert sewage spills from the River Thames and is connected to outflows of London's existing Victorian sewer system at 21 points.

In other tunnel news, Elon Musk's infrastructure firm The Boring Company is set to build the Dubai Loop, a 17-kilometre transport tunnel under Dubai that will link the city with speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. US entrepreneur Musk described the tunnel as "a wormhole".

In design news this week, two well-known creatives worked with museums for the first time. British designer Bethan Laura Wood opened her first solo exhibition at London's Design Museum, showcasing over 70 objects including tea-stained cups, caterpillar-shaped cabinets and colourful flower lights.

Architect India Mahdavi, meanwhile, has designed PoMo, a contemporary art museum in Norway, where she created interior designs including a salmon-pink gift shop and a mandarin-hued staircase.

It marks Mahdavi's first-ever museum design and the architect said it was "an opportunity to widen the spectrum of my signature style".
