In the run-up to next week's 3 Days of Design festival, we have selected 10 installations, exhibitions and other standout projects on show across Copenhagen between 18 to 20 June.

The 12th edition of 3 Days of Design will present works from hundreds of international brands and designers, both established and emerging.

Presented across city-wide locations ranging from open showrooms to alternative pop-up locations, participants' projects will respond to this year's theme, Keep It Real.

Ahead of Denmark's biggest design event, we have rounded up 10 key things not to be missed:

AHEC at 3 Days of Design

Material Matters

Known for its investigations into the significance of materials and how they influence our lives, British design think tank Material Matters will present an exhibition of various participants over two floors at the former warehouse Gammel Dok in Christianshavn, Copenhagen.

Among the works on display is No 1 Common, a show by The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) exploring the often overlooked qualities of hardwood and featuring pieces by designers including Andu Masebo and Anna Maria Øfstedal Eng.

This year marks the first time Material Matters will exhibit outside the UK, following a trio of shows at London Design Festival.

Exploring the idea of the "perfect pair", the exhibition will display design pieces that complement, complete and contrast one another in myriad ways.

Bread and Butter will be presented in collaboration with local Korean restaurant Ouri.

Central to the show will be an ash wood and stainless-steel bench that was originally only conceptual. The bench is among a series of ideas Mikkelsen that has transformed into commercial works, marking a significant expansion in her practice.
