Copenhagen studio Spacon has unveiled an exhibition at the Danish Architecture Center which translates digital actions, from waving to commenting, into architectural space.

Meet Me Here explores how social interactions can become an intrinsic part of physical space, just as they are on social media and other digital platforms.

On show on the Gallery Stairs at the Danish Architecture Center (DAC), the exhibition features a series of spaces that require people to be physically present and fully engaged.

"It's an exhibition of five floors, all about different types of meetings," explained Nikoline Dyrup Carlsen," one of the three founding partners of Spacon.

"The idea is about asking more from architecture, turning it into something that demands your presence and gives you the chance to influence, interact and engage with the space," she told Dezeen.

"This exhibition doesn't exist without you," added Malene Hvidt, another of Spacon's founding partners.

"We want to create moments that can be shared with others, or that can lead to new encounters and new ways of seeing yourself," she told Dezeen.

The Meet Me Here exhibition was curated by DAC's Pernille Stockmarr. It was built using primarily recycled materials from the previous exhibition in this space, Nanna Ditzel: Breaking Free.

Each of the five gallery landings encourages a different type of interaction.

The first is a mirrored room filled with paper messages and directives, inviting guests to see themselves in the space and explore what it means to be fully present.

The next room contains a bench that provokes conversation and play, a word-search carpet and an audio installation that tells you to "find your sound".

The third room asks visitors to leave hand-written comments on the walls, while the fourth uses motion sensors to translate physical movement into colour and shadow.

The final room features a wall filled with paper slips suggesting meeting places where visitors can meet one another in person. Each has a QR code for easy navigation.

Other details include a staircase with rainbow-coloured treads, video projections of people waving from windows, and text messages painted onto the walls and windows.

"It's important today that we don't only have architecture that dictates, but also that invites you to engage and interact," said Hvidt.

"It's possible to do so much online that we now have a hyper-social way of being together digitally," added Dyrup Carlsen.

"We're fascinated by what has become so normal digitally. How can we learn from that and bring that into a new typology of space? What does that demand of the physical space?"

Spacon, formerly known as Spacon & X, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. Named Emerging Interior Designer of the Year at the inaugural Dezeen Awards in 2018, the studio's completed projects include a kombucha brewery, a cave-like cardboard car showroom and a pop-up hydroponic farm.

Meet Me Here gives insight into the ethos behind Spacon's design projects, said Hvidt.

"When a space has a certain openness that you feel, when there's care put in it, when there's personality and authenticity, you feel like you actually matter in this space and that you can affect it," she explained.

"It activates your senses in a different way."

The Meet Me Here exhibition is on show at the Danish Architecture Center in Copenhagen from 18 June 2025 to 4 January 2026. See Dezeen Events Guide for more architecture and design event listings.
