Dezeen Showroom: the USA and Canada have a rich history of furniture design and production. The following six products aim to demonstrate the variety of the countries' output.
From hand-blown glassware, design-forward electrical sockets and fabrics to office furnishing systems and chairs, the following products all hail from locations across North America.
The following brands are either headquartered in or have satellite locations in Chicago, Denver, Washington and Grand Rapids in America, as well as Toronto and Vancouver in Canada.

Japanese-American brand Okamura looked to the appearance of flowers in bloom to inform the partially-enclosed shape of this task chair.
The Floris chair comprises a curved seat and petal-shaped padding, with users able to choose between various bases, including swivel or four-legged options.
Racetrack and Emblem fabrics by Designtex
US brand Designtex have released a pair of contrasting fabrics named Racetrack and Emblem: the latter sports a small-scale check print, while the former combines this with a solid-coloured, thick stripe.
Various colours are available for both the check and the solid-coloured areas, each of which can be used either indoors or outdoors.

Campers and Dens system by Orangebox and Steelcase
Informed by the shapes of various recreational, outdoorsy structures, this office furniture system by Steelcase brand Orangebox aims to strengthen zoning and functionality in workplaces.
The Campers and Dens system includes modules modelled on awnings, cabins and camper vans and comes in various colours and material options.

Design brand Upstate is based in New York City, and among the catalogue of homeware is a series of glassware defined by its colourful aesthetic and hand-blown production.
Hand-dyed glasses come in various colourways, including Kokomo, Frankie, Fumé, Moss and Watermelon. The brand looked to work by various artists to inform the selection of colour groupings.

Unified Field fabric collection by Luum Textiles
Canadian brand Luum Textiles – based in Toronto – has released a range of materials informed by pattern styles found on formal attire.
The Unified Field fabric collection includes diamond-like argyle, pinstripes and geometric houndstooth, all available in various colour combinations.

Canadian design brand Bocci is based in the Pacific Northwest region of Vancouver. The area's landscapes and wildlife were the basis for the six new colours added to its 22 System Socket collection.
Defined by their disc-shaped that sit flush with the wall, the red Oxblood, Khaki and Forest greens, and brown Carob colourways are new to the range, which first launched in 2009.
