As part of New York Fashion Week, Georgian design practice Rooms Studio created an installation made of aluminium plinths and a pink steel dancefloor to display a shoe collection by Mach & Mach.

Rooms Studio collaborated with Georgian footwear brand Mach & Mach to showcase pastel-hued versions of leather mules and satin pumps topped with pearls and crystals for a Spring 2026 collection.

Located in one of the upper stories of the 180 Maiden Lane skyscraper of Water Street Associates (WSA), Rooms Studio used the bare-bones, industrial style of the interior and the soft material palette of the shoes to inform the display.

"We balanced the soft, flowing atmosphere with display cases inspired by brutalist architecture, showing how strength and sensitivity can exist together and form a single whole," said the studio, which was founded by designers Nata Janberidze and Keti Toloraia.

The installation consisted of a variety of aluminium plinths spread out over a steel floor painted pink with a high-gloss automotive finish, with a large platform located to one side.

The shoes were displayed around and on top of the display cases, with one that slid open to showcase the brand's Double Bow shoe in a pastel gingham colourway.

Surrounding the installation, a TV stood in one corner as an homage to the childhood of Mach & Mach founders Nina and Gvantsa Macharashvili and beige polyethene sheeting divided the space from the rest of the floor.

"TV screens emit looped stock footage of '90s style rainbow no-signal screens and static cuts cutting in and out – a nod to growing up in Georgia during the '90s (post Soviet Union) for the sister creative directors," said the team

At night, it was converted into a Tbilisi nightclub, with the plinths pushed to the side, a DJ placed on the platform, and the space doused in red lighting.

The display ultimately sought to capture the Mach & Mach woman, according to the brand, who is "bold yet feminine, structured yet playful".

Just recently, the second New York iteration of design fair Collectible took place on the same floor of WSA. Dezeen rounded up 10 highlights from the event.

The Mach & Mach Spring/Summer 2026 Presentation took place on 10 September 2025 at 180 Maiden Lane in New York City. See Dezeen Events Guide for an up-to-date list of architecture and design events taking place around the world.
