ReSKU 2.0 fabric by Camira
Dezeen Showroom: recycled wool and renewable flax come together in a warm melange of colour in British textile brand Camira's ReSKU 2.0 fabric.
ReSKU 2.0 was launched to celebrate Camira's 50th anniversary in 2024 and inspired by the brand's original 1998 ReSKU fabric, made from recycled army jumpers.
For ReSKU 2.0, the brand combined recycled wool and polyamide generated from its own manufacturing waste with harvested flax, a renewable, low-carbon crop that grows with little water.
The process is conducted through Camira's textile recycling arm, iinouiio, which makes use of advanced textile reprocessing techniques, and the fabric it yields has a rich, tweedy look that showcases the natural colour variation of recycled materials.
ReSKU 2.0 is available in a choice of 24 shades. Camira says it is suitable for applications such as seating, curtains and panels, in settings including modern workplaces and hospitality venues.
"More than a fabric, ReSKU 2.0 represents a commitment to circular thinking and responsible manufacturing," said Camira.
"By turning production waste into a valuable resource, it demonstrates how heritage, innovation and sustainability can work together to create a textile that is recycled, renewable and ready for the future."
