Pebble stool by Atelier2+ for Moonler

Dezeen Showroom: designed to look like a cluster of balancing rocks, this stool by Thai studio Atelier 2+ and furniture brand Moonler is made of wood indigenous to Thailand.

The Pebble stool features a vaguely three-legged base formed through the arrangement of three rounded wooden pieces, which look like rocks leant together to form a structure.

The form was devised by an artisan who was given free reign to come up with a design that reflected their skill with woodwork, according to Moonler.

The Pebble stool's surface finish aims to emphasise the handmade quality of the piece and create a clear distinction from industrially manufactured furniture.

Made of solid chamchuri wood, also known as monkey pod, the stool is available in a range of natural or coloured finishes.

Each Pebble stool is unique with different colours and grains to its wood, and the presence of natural knots, holes and splits in the wood is seen as only adding to its character.
