Interior designer Kelly Wearstler has teamed up with fashion brand H&M to design a clothing line, which launches this week together with her H&M Home furniture collection that was unveiled in Milan.

The fashion collection will comprise eight ready-to-wear pieces with silhouettes that H&M describes as "relaxed and refined – unmistakably Kelly".

The pieces include a coated cotton trench coat, sequin skirt, collarless cropped leather jacket and a slip dress printed with a pattern of vases.

The clothes are part of a wider collaboration between H&M and Wearstler, who has also created modular furniture, vases and lamps for the Swedish brand's interior retailer H&M Home.

Working with H&M was a way to reach a larger audience, Wearstler told Dezeen in an interview about the collaboration earlier this year.

"I love that I can reach that higher collectible audience, but also now having this partnership with H&M and doing something that's super accessible, I love that dichotomy," she said.

The ready-to-wear fashion collection, which launches this week, will only be available online, while the furniture will be sold in select stores.

The furniture line includes a chair, Poma, that can be transformed into a loveseat by combining two chairs, a lounge chair called Soluna that can be used as a sofa by adding more modules, as well as an armchair and a sofa table.

To complement the furniture, Wearstler designed a number of smaller accessories, including three lamps, candlesticks, vases and a clothing rack.

To H&M, working with Wearstler presented an opportunity to bring her "vision" to a new audience.

"Kelly is a very powerful female designer," said H&M Home head of design and creative Evelina Kravaev-Söderberg. "She's always had a strong design aesthetic, and she possesses a unique, bold, and confident design language – I tend to say she's not whispering."

"We want to showcase that aesthetic to our customers, to bring that vision to new audiences, and every design is unique to us – these pieces have not been seen before," she continued.
