Dezeen Showroom: heated towel rails have been radically simplified down to a linear module in I Ching, a new product by designer Elisa Ossino for Italian brand Tubes.
The I Ching heated towel rail is composed of minimalist, unjoined linear elements in four lengths that can be combined in various graphic configurations.
Made of stainless steel, the modules are designed to be installed in multiples, either vertically, horizontally or with a mix of both.
Tubes refers to the I Ching towel rail as "a kind of artwork" that makes such a strong impression on the wall that it will make "you forget about its intended functional role".
The I Ching system is available in a range of 13 metallic finishes or 140 RAL colours. It has a low-voltage operation of 24 volts, which according to Tubes, makes it safe to fit even in the areas of the bathroom that are closest to water, including a walk-in shower or above a bathtub.
"The extra-low voltage makes this product especially ideal for wet areas in spas or bathroom cabins on yachts," explained the company.
It can optionally be fitted with an on-off switch or integrated with home automation or digital wireless thermostat systems.
