Haelo carpet tiles by Modulyss
Dezeen Showroom: Belgian flooring brand Modulyss has released carpet tiles decorated with a dappled motif that recalls the effect of light on water.
The Haelo carpet tile range contains two sub-styles: dynamic and shifting Lume, and gentle, streaked Ray. Both were created by in-house designer Joris Peutz, who aimed to create soothing, continuous patterns across floors.
"Inspired by the delicate beauty of water reflections, I wanted Haelo to capture the organic, ever-changing nature of light as it dances across water," said Peutz.
"Shimmering movement, abstract patterns, and soft contrasts flow together, echoing the transitions of light and shadow that ripple like waves."
Sustainability was also considered alongside the tiles' aesthetics: each is tufted with Thrive matter yarn, made from 90 per cent certified recycled content.
The back of the tiles is covered with ecoBACK PLUS, a polyolefin and bio-based material containing 85 per cent recycled and renewable materials, according to the brand.
The tiles are also lightweight, which helps to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by requiring fewer raw materials and enabling more tiles to be shipped at once.
