Echoes of the Deep lighting by Askia Furniture

Dezeen Showroom: Romanian brand Askia Furniture has released a collection of acoustic pendant lights that mimic the appearance of sea creatures.

All lights in the Echoes of the Deep range comprise an LED tube threaded with sheets of PET felt, which form the simplified shapes of fish, sharks and other marine life.

Seven styles are included in the range – hammerhead, stingray, turbot, sword fish, flat fish, tench fish and crucian carp – each of which is available in various sizes and colours.

As a result of their felt materiality, the pieces help to control noise levels in interiors, and the gentle glow they cast helps to further foster a sense of calm.

They can be hung alone or in groups, recalling undersea scenes where sea life of all types congregate.

"The series reimagines marine forms through sculptural silhouettes that appear to float weightlessly in space," said Askia Furniture. "Echoes of the Deep merges the serenity of ocean environments with principles of responsible design."
