Architecture studio Snøhetta unveiled images and videos of the Shanghai Grand Opera House, showcasing a dramatic spiral staircase that extends to the roof as the project nears completion.

The project sparked debate among readers, with one calling it "probably the most beautiful public stair design I have ever seen".

Another disagreed, however, arguing that "someone came up with the idea of the stair and tried everything to make it work, ignoring the fact that it can't integrate with the overall form".
