MIT students Jacob Payne and Ayah Mahmoud created Kitchen Cosmo, a retrofuturistic robot that utilises artificial intelligence (AI) to suggest recipes based on ingredients, preferences, and time.

The prototype's buttons, switches and sliders let home cooks set preferences such as diet, mood, cooking time, difficulty, portions and meal type.

This week's newsletter also featured American chain Cracker Barrel scrapping its new logo after public backlash, BIG's plans for a circular transit hub in the desert and President Donald Trump's plans to name Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia as chief design officer for the US government.
