Bloom sofa by Hee Welling for Ocee & Four

Dezeen Showroom: designer Hee Welling and furniture brand Ocee & Four have created an organic-looking modular sofa that recalls the appearance of flowers.

With curved edges, a tubular backrest and circular as well as semicircular ottomans, the aptly named Bloom sofa is characterised by the consistent presence of rounded motifs, which aim to bring a gentleness to lounge spaces.

An unusually creative range of configurations is possible with the modules, ranging from snaking double-sided lobby couches to island-like clusters with subtly screened spaces for focused work.

Ocee & Four say that responsibly sourced materials are used in the sofa, which is also designed with a repairable frame and replaceable components to extend its life.

"The inspiration for Bloom was to create a system that feels truly inviting," said designer Hee Welling. "Something people see and immediately want to try out and sit in."

"Everything is shaped with smooth, rounded forms that feel inviting: there are no sharp edges, nothing that makes you feel like you could visually cut yourself."
