"Would it not be quicker and easier to type it into an AI chatbot?"

Not everyone was sold. "Great, another camera in your home watching you, cluttering up your work surface," wrote Bunkermentality. "What's not to like?" they asked.

"It prints me out a recipe that helps me not waste food by wasting paper and ink," mocked Miles Teg.

"Yet more stuff for stuff's sake," said RK. "Would it not be quicker and easier to type it into an AI chatbot?" they wondered.

But commenter Iwall came back to argue that "you also don't need ChatGPT to do this either, you can actually just use your eyes to look at your leftovers and ingredients and your brain to formulate a recipe based on your mood, skill and tastes."

"I kind of dig the 1950s futurist vibes," they added.

Curved footbridge Albi France
Ney and Partners curves footbridge between arches of French viaduct

"Project of the year, I say!"

Readers were generally impressed by a curved footbridge which cantilevers from a 19th-century viaduct over the River Tarn in France, designed by Belgian engineering studio Ney and Partners.

"Stunning!" exclaimed Chris D, before reflecting that "structures like these can often feel utilitarian at best, but this is excellent".

Charlie Bing agreed, writing "brilliant design – echoing the curves of the bridge's arches is magical".

"Project of the year, I say!" applauded Apsco Radiales.

Other commenters chimed in with suggestions, and Steve Hassler proposed that "the areas which swoop under the archways could have provided shade and rain protection to the bench sitting areas. This would also allow better views of the other side of the river."

Cracker barrel logo redesign
Cracker Barrel redesign of "iconic barrel" logo faces backlash

Dezeen commenters were also reacting to the news that American restaurant chain Cracker Barrel faced online backlash over its planned logo redesign, which it later abandoned.

"The root of this issue is anti-corporatism," wrote Michael Wigle. "People with positive opinions about Cracker Barrel don't want to see their gathering place turned into a soulless brand."

Cska thought it was a "bogus redesign" and described it as "textbook destroying the character of something by attempting to 'modernise' it."

However, not everyone agreed. "The new logo looks like a good step forward in the right direction," said Ken Steffes. "It's a restaurant not a country store," they added.

Marc Sicard was on the same page, writing "I think it's quite well done and will likely stand the test of time".
