Bespoke design

Bespoke design pieces are often known for their high-quality, personalised expression, which are tailored to a client's exact specifications and taste.

Acknowledging the resurgence of this trend, we've created this category to reward designers and companies who are manufacturing one-off products across furniture, lighting or product design.

A Versailles townhouse with large custom-made steel cupboard designed by studio RMGB, and this collection of special edition Le Corbusier stools with scorched-wood finish for Bottega Veneta's Milan fashion show, are great examples for this new category.

Architectural lighting design

Strategically placed ambient, task, accent or decorative lighting can highlight the architectural features of a building and interior to enhance mood and add a wow-factor.

Examples include a speakeasy bar with bespoke lighting by LightOrigin Studio to emphasise its "ethereal ambience" and a fried chicken restaurant in New York with warmly lit arches by Rockwell Group.

Surface design

We're keen to see bold, tactile and characterful wall, floor, ceiling and surface coverings, including tiles, flooring, paint, wallpaper and other decorative finishes that create a statement in any home, apartment or commercial interior.

A glossy tile collection with endless colour combinations by Dutch design brand Palet and a felted wall covering made from recycled plastic bottles by US brand Designtex are both examples of the type of surfaces that could be entered.

Textile design

Award-winning interiors are often adorned in rich textures, artisanal fabrics, natural upholstery and bold prints for rugs, blankets, curtains and carpets, all of which can uplift an interior and provide a renewed sense of fun.

Our textile design category is a great opportunity to have these often overlooked soft furnishings championed. For inspiration, check out these textiles, ranging from this sheer fabric made using aloe vera leaves by textile brand Kirkby Design to a feather-like patterned rug by designer David Mrugala for Azmas Rugs.

Examples of workplace furniture that could be entered into this category include a modular workplace system made from recyclable aluminium by office brand Mute, a log-like upholstered seat by design studio Addi for Mizetto and an easily adjustable desk lamp by furniture brand Humanscale.

Product design (health, wellbeing and wearables)

A multipurpose vibrator designed to eliminate pain during sex and a robotic pet that provides companionship for dementia patients are inspiring examples of how product design can empower individuals with disabilities or limitations to perform tasks independently, fostering self-sufficiency and confidence.

We're searching for designs spanning assisted living items, medical devices and personal health products that enhance users' health and wellbeing. Exercise equipment, toothbrushes, sex toys and beauty equipment can also be entered into this category.

Product design (bathroom)

Ranging from Samual Ross's bright orange centrepiece smart toilet for Kohler to an egg-shaped bath made for two by Stefan Diez for Kaldewei, these items with high-quality finishes are stand-out examples of what can be entered into this category.

We are looking for striking baths, showers, toilets, sinks, and taps that balance practicality and comfort for bathroom, washroom and toilet interiors.

The category could also showcase collections such as this ceramic bathroom range mixed with transparent accessories by Italian bathroom company Kartell, and a series of slender, titanium steel sinks by German studio Tesseraux & Partner for bathroom brand Bette.
