Dezeen Showroom: American studio Union Design and brand KFI Studios give discarded fabrics a second life in these tables, which combine wood and recycled textiles in a playful fusion.
Available in either side or coffee table sizes, KFI Studios created the Tumble series to celebrate the possibilities of utilising waste textiles: the tabletops are made from a sheet material containing shredded and compressed textile pieces, resulting in a flecked surface reminiscent of terrazzo.
This is combined with a sculptural ash wood veneer base, creating a stark juxtaposition between the warm wood grain and modern speckled surface.
At the same time, the base's internal circular cutout echoes the universal laundry symbol for tumble drying, bringing the piece's top and bottom together with a fun hidden detail.
"Inspired by the recycled textile top, we wanted the base to connect with that narrative as well," said Union Design founder Jeff Theesfeld.
"Referencing the tumble-dry symbol offered a graphic yet understated way to relate the material story with the overall design."
The Tumble tables are available in a choice of three wood finishes and two different tabletop colours. They ship flat-packed and the base pieces slot together for assembly.
