This week we reported on London Design Festival

This week on Dezeen, we looked at the highlights of this week's London Design Festival, which included a pavilion topped with police shields.
Built on The Strand, in central London, The Pangolin Shield pavilion (pictured) has a bamboo structure topped with two types of shield – traditional Indian police shields constructed out of lathis and woven rain shields called knups.
To coincide with London Design Festival (LDF) we created an issue of Dezeen Dispatch, which was distributed at sites across the city and is available to read online here.

Highlights of LDF included the One Tool Stool exhibition by students from the Royal College of Art and a fictional 1930s hotel suite created as the backdrop for the first editions collection by new design platform Lobby.
In a Q&A with Sadiq Khan in Dezeen Dispatch, the mayor of London described the city's design as "an international success story".

Following last week's launch of Dyson's first toothbrush, we looked back at four products that the brand successfully revolutionised, and four it didn't.
Successes include vacuums, fans, hand driers and hair care products.

In architecture news, Hotelier Not A Hotel unveiled its latest unusual guesthouse – a human-sized Pokémon Poké Ball.
Set to be nestled beside a lake in Hokkaido, Japan, the three-metre-diameter spherical guest room swill be shaped like the balls used to catch creatures in the popular Pokémon game.

Reporting from Helsinki Design Week we looked at the story behind a Matti Suuronen Futuro House that has been manufactured for the first time in decades.
The creation of the house, which was on display at the festival, began when architect Jan van Dijs was made aware of an unusual post on Facebook by a friend and client.

Popular projects this week included the Pine House holiday home in southern Sweden by Johan Sundberg Arkitektur, a wooden cabin "devoted entirely to the ritual of bathing" in the UK and a "strong yet subtle" cottage extension in Scotland.
Listen to our journalists talk about the key design and architecture stories of the past seven days on our Dezeen Weekly podcast, which this week focused on London Design Festival.
