Suite Arquitetos installs rust-toned Casa Magma showroom in São Paulo

Brazilian studio Suite Arquitetos has used Portinari ceramic tiles to create a residential-style show space during Casacor São Paulo 2026.

Based on the event's theme Mind and Heart, Suite Arquitetos designed Casa Magma as a space to present various Portinari tiles – as well as Brazilian furniture and art – during the exhibition hosted at Parque da Água Branca.

The 215-square-metre "suite" installation was organised around a central living room, which forms the "heart" of the project.

This is accessed via an entryway defined by a sweeping wall clad in fluted tiles, which guides visitors into the hub.

The main "living space" features warm tones and a sunken lounge

Dark red, walnut, burgundy and terracotta tones appear continually throughout the space, creating a warm, enveloping aesthetic.

"The space was born from this desire to create a contemporary shelter, almost like a cocoon," said Suite Arquitetos. "We wanted people to feel the environment even before rationally understanding it."

"Casa Magma speaks about welcoming and about this silent power that exists in matter, light, and textures," it continued.

A sunken living area revolves around an exposed column that's treated to resemble a fireplace, with a cylindrical base filled with logs.

Arc-shaped, velvet-upholstered sofas at either end of the sunken area form dual seating areas around original furniture, all united by a plush rust-toned carpet.

Portinari tiles form a backdrop for a custom pendant lamp and mid-century chairs.

The curved entry partition also features fluted tiles on its concave side, and sweeps around the space to draw the eye from end to end.

At its zenith, a small kitchen and bar sits below a sculptural light fixture comprising natural crystals and tubes by Suite Arquitetos, while mid-century chairs by Joaquim Terneiro accompany the counter.

Figurative artworks include a Diego Rivera drawing and an Odoardo Tabacchi sculpture, while more abstract pieces range from a metallic stool by Rodrigo Zampol to a relief panel by Zanini de Zanine.

In a minimalist bathroom, textured Portinari ceramic tiles are highlighted by soft recessed lighting and complemented by matte brown fixtures.

"Applied to walls and floors, the stone expands the tactile reading of the environment and highlights different customization possibilities," said the team.

During previous editions of Casacor São Paulo, Studio Melissa Romano got creative with fibreboard for an installation titled Casa Alma in 2021 and Studio Arthur Casas designed a prefabricated home in 2018.

Early work by Suite Arquitetos includes a restaurant featuring upside-down plant pots, bare lightbulbs and exposed ductwork.
