Snowman22 lighting by ILKW

Dezeen Showroom: classic light bulbs, hand-blown glass and the friendly shape of snowmen meet in South Korean lighting brand ILKW's Snowman22 table and floor lamps.

Snowman22 is part of ILKW's flagship Snowman lighting series, launched in 2021 as the 40-year-old company sought a fresh start away from its historic product: the incandescent light bulb.

Echoes of that rounded bulb shape and metal socket structure remain in the LED-based Snowman series. The architecture, design and art of the 1960s is a further influence.

The number at the end of the name refers to the size of the shade, with offerings ranging from the Snowman8 Portable to the Snowman70 Pendant.

Designed by ILKW creative director Sunman Kwon, Snowman22 variations include several floor and table lamp styles, all of which employ a doughnut-shaped LED cover structure to scatter natural and shadow-free light throughout the outer glass surface.

The brand's self-developed Controller One switch system allows for gentle dimming and colour temperature adjustment through intuitive gestures.
