Smart Shelf by Philippe Malouin for Very Simple Kitchen

Dezeen Showroom: designer Philippe Malouin's Smart Shelf for Italian brand Very Simple Kitchen combines air extraction, lighting and storage, and is operated with tactile knobs rather than touchscreens.
Designed by Malouin in collaboration with kitchen hood brand Falmec, the Smart Shelf is intended to be both a multifunctional appliance and an architectural element.

The minimalist design is meant to fit in seamlessly with Very Simple Kitchen's modular units, and features confident details that celebrate analogue technology, such as physical knobs and a contrast power cord.
"The collaboration stems from a shared vision of the kitchen as a lived-in space," said Very Simple Kitchen.

"Very Simple Kitchen contributes its formal vocabulary of stainless steel and clean lines, while Falmec adds its expertise in air extraction to enhance comfort and wellbeing," the brand continued.
"The result is an object that improves air quality without sacrificing beauty."
Very Simple Kitchen unveiled the Smart Shelf at EuroCucina at Salone del Mobile in April 2026. It will be commercially available later this year.
