Six architecture and design events in August from Dezeen Events Guide

Exhibitions Architecture's Inscriptions, Maggie's: Architecture That Cares and Wellbeing in the City are among the architecture and design events featured in Dezeen Events Guide this August.
Other events taking place during the month include Helsinki Design Week, Jia Curated and The Art-Marotte Masterclass Series.

Maggie's: Architecture That Cares
6 March to 1 November, UK
Presented at the V&A Dundee, Maggie's: Architecture That Cares is an exhibition celebrating the architecture behind UK-based charity Maggie's.
The exhibition features models of the cancer care centres, including work by architects Norman Foster, Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Richard Rogers and Benedetta Tagliabue.
Wellbeing in the City
24 April to 20 September, Spain
The Wellbeing in the City exhibition explores how traditional architecture has impacted the biological, social and spatial experiences of people living in urban spaces.
The display outlines eight key elements of impact, including birth, nurturing, eating, healing, sleeping, playing, courting and walking.
The showcase is curated by architecture practice Izaskun Chinchilla and takes place at La Arquería de Nuevos Ministerios in Madrid.

Architecture's Inscriptions
9 July to 7 October, China
This exhibition demonstrates the influence ancient manuscripts, calligraphy, scholar's rocks, paintings and rubbings have on the work of contemporary Chinese architects.
Architects Huang Wenjing, Li Hu, Liu Jiakun, Liu Yichun, Zhang Ke, Zhu Xiaofeng and Zhuang Shen and artists Ding Yi, Xu Bing and Zhan Wang are all taking part in Architecture's Inscriptions, which takes place at Tank Shanghai.
Jia Curated
13 to 17 August, Indonesia
Jia Curated is an annual design, craft and culture festival taking place in Bali, welcoming over 250 brands across the fields of art, architecture, materiality, landscape design and construction.
This year's event will follow the theme Nature Weave, addressing "interwoven relationships" between people and nature, and the impact on design and craft, such as biophilia practices.
The Art-Marotte Masterclass Series
17 to 21 August, Belgium
A five-day workshop programme will take place at Château Art-Marotte in Braives, Belgium, inviting postgraduate students to experiment with ceramics and materiality.
The masterclass series will offer students the experience to develop their skills in ceramic screen printing and sculpture, using materials such as slumped glass and plaster.

Helsinki Design Week
28 August to 6 September, Finland
Helsinki Design Week celebrates its 21st anniversary in August with the theme The Oncoming Other, spotlighting community, collaboration and connection in urban space.
The programme of exhibitions, talks and open showrooms explores a range of disciplines, including textile, product, industrial, fashion, interior and graphic design.
