Dezeen Showroom: the following furnishings are among those that nest, hinge, stack or fold their way into smaller footprints to allow for ease of storage.
From compact residences to larger mixed-use or open plan spaces, many interiors benefit from furnishings and accessories that can be packed away when not in use.
Chairs, stools, tables and glassware are among the following examples of such products that we've featured on our Showroom section, including an award-winning wooden folding chair by Nikari, a table with a top that hinges in half by Mara, and a rereleased set of nesting glassware from 1970 by Karakter.
Read on to find out more about some of the space-efficient products we've published on our product and furniture directory.
Faneeri folding chair by Jonas Forsman for Nikari
Swedish designer Jonas Forsman has created a slim folding chair made from solid timber for Finnish design brand Nikari.
Forsman aimed for the Faneeri folding chair to have an elegant, slimline appearance both in its unfolded and folded states.
A pair of hinges at the midpoint of its tabletop allows this table by Italian brand Mara to fold upwards and in half.
Contrary to the bulkiness of conventional tables that make them unwieldy to store away, the Argo Libro Metal table's legs pivot down, allowing its now vertical mass to be moved as needed.

Thick, flat legs connect into a rounded triangular-shaped seat in this three-legged stool by London-based design duo SmithMatthias for British furniture manufacturer Allermuir
Ooty stools come in various colourways and upholstery options for the seat. Mixing and matching finishes creates a dynamic affect when stacked atop one another.
Aluminium Week-End outdoor furniture by Petite Friture
Stackability is common to all tables and chairs in this collection of slatted outdoor furniture by French design brand Petite Friture.
Aluminium Week-End outdoor furniture is defined by the material's shiny, metallic appearance and lightweight nature, which makes it easy to pick up and stack when needed.

Living Objects stool by Vormen
When these stools by Belgian design studio Vormen stack, their legs form a helical shape.
Living Objects stools come in various raw and coloured finishes that come together to form a single rhythmic form when stacked away.

Lightly chair by Formway for Noho
New Zealand studio Formway has created a stackable chair for design brand Noho, which is made from bio-based nylon.
The Lightly chair's innovative materiality means that it is particularly lightweight. Ten chairs can be stacked together in a height of just over one metre.
5-in-1 glass set by Joe Colombo via Karakter
A rerelease of a 1970s era design by Joe Colombo, this stackable set of drinkware is available through Danish brand Karakter.
The 5-in-1 glass set comprises a cognac glass, white wine glass, red wine glass, grappa glass and water glass, with their differing volumes allowing them to nest neatly inside one another like a Russian doll.
