Dezeen Showroom: designer Andreas Engesvik aimed to bring lightness, comfort and an element of eccentricity to his Pico lounge chair, created for Swedish brand Fogia.
Pico features plump cushions on a thin tubular steel frame, creating a lounge chair that Fogia describes as at once "cosy, well-crafted and slightly eccentric".
This design also has the effect of adding versatility, as Pico does not take up a lot of space within a room, but its seat has the capacious feeling of a much bigger chair.
"Comfort is an essential quality that Fogia is really good at," said Engesvik.
With aesthetic nods to Bauhaus and the detailing of racing bike handlebars, the Pico chair is manufactured by Fogia's expert craftspeople and is made to withstand a long and useful life.
"You can use it for, say, 15 years and then stow it in the garage for a decade, and then brush it off and put it to use again," said Engesvik.
