Knekt floor lamp by Hegren
Dezeen Showroom: local production, repairability and honest design are foregrounded in Norwegian brand Hegren's Knekt floor lamp.
Designed for the contemporary home, where people might use an armchair to work in as much as relax in, the Knekt lamp provides directional light that is easily angled and height-adjusted.
Like all of Hegren's products, it is designed with a focus on repairability and longevity, using standard components as much as possible so they can be replaced if needed.
Its form is intended to be pure and easy to understand, with a lampshade bent from a single laser-cut sheet of locally sourced aluminium and an aluminium arm and body.
"As a designer, I work within clear constraints – letting material, production and function shape the design from the beginning," said Hegren founder Henrik Grevstad.
"With Knekt, the open construction is both a functional consideration and an important part of the design. The structure is kept visible rather than hidden, giving the lamp a clear and honest character while remaining visually light."
Among Knekt's other practical features are an E27 socket for straightforward bulb replacement, an off-switch integrated into the lamp head for easy access, and flat-packed shipping with no-tool assembly.
