Ideal Standard creates water-saving shower system using recycled aluminium

Ideal Standard has launched a shower system made from 84 per cent recycled aluminium, which is captured in this video produced by Dezeen for the bathroom brand.

Created by Italian designers Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba, the Alu+ shower system was designed to reduce water consumption without impacting performance.

It features integrated water-saving technology that restricts flow to eight litres per minute for the hand spray and 12 litres per minute for the overhead faucet.

Palomba and Serafini developed the system with sustainability in mind. Alu+ is free of chrome, lead and nickel – materials that the company says can pose risks to water quality, and which are commonly used in conventional fittings.

All the plastic parts of the shower were made from water-compliant polymers, and the packaging is recyclable and free from single-use plastics.

The system is characterised by sleek geometric forms and comes in four colour finishes, including Black, Rose, Silver and Bronze.

Users can choose between two function modes: a standard Rain mode and a custom Silk Rain mode, which dispenses ultra-fine water droplets to create a spa-like experience.

The shower system was designed to be compatible with other Ideal Standard ranges, including the Ceragine O taps, shower accessories and bathroom furniture.
