US food brand Heinz has unveiled the Heinz Dipper, a French fry box with a built-in ketchup compartment for dipping on-the-go.

Described as the "future of dipping", the Heinz Dipper was created to tackle the mess associated with eating fast food while on the move.

The promotional container has the distinctive form and colour of a typical fries box, but with the addition of a pocket-like compartment that protrudes to create a neat pouch for ketchup or mayonnaise.

"We don't know why the fry box wasn't always designed this way," said the brand. "We just know you can't have fries without Heinz. So, we fixed it."

According to research done by Heinz, 70 per cent of consumers have spilt sauces when eating fries on the go, while 80 per cent said they skip consuming them altogether due to a lack of "dip-friendly" packaging options.

The Heinz Dipper was designed to tackle these obstacles and create a mess-free eating experience.

It removes the juggle of balancing a sauce packet on a car dashboard or the messy experience of squeezing ketchup directly onto individual fries while walking.

"After spotlighting the uncanny resemblance between fry boxes and our iconic Heinz Keystone globally, we wanted to take the next bold step: redesigning the age-old fry box to work even harder for our Heinz lovers everywhere," said Kraft Heinz Company vice president of the Heinz brand Nina Patel.

"As more eating occasions happen away from home in drive-throughs and on-the-go moments, the Heinz Dipper is a fun and relevant way to innovate to meet fans where they are and strengthen our role in their everyday lives."

Heinz will debut the promotion dipping boxes at restaurants in 11 countries, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Philippines, Thailand, China and Kuwait.
