Promotion: German appliance brand Gaggenau has launched an oven and appliance series made with stainless steel and smoked glass that can be arranged in a variety of combinations and inserted into kitchen cabinets.

The Gaggenau Expressive series includes a steam, microwave and traditional oven and other appliances such as a vacuuming drawer, warming drawer and fully automatic coffee machine.

It is the first new cavity series from Gaggenau in nearly two decades and was informed by modernist design principles, according to the brand.

"The new series carries the essence of Gaggenau's tradition while stepping boldly into the future, blending familiar elements with design inspired by Bauhaus principles and modernist architecture," said the brand. "Two frames, one circle, a piece of art, encapsulates its essence."

The ovens feature a newly designed "floating control ring", which was inserted directly onto the doors for accessibility and ease. The accompanying interface lights up as a user approaches it and also opens with a one-touch door mechanism.

Lined in a signature blue enamel, the ovens are capable of reaching up to 300 degrees Celsius with a self-cleaning system and automatic programming.

"This floating ring has been a long journey for us," said Gaggenau user interaction and interface designer Soeren Strayle.

"With the display now hidden behind the front glass and the ring floating in front of it, we have created a tangible element within a digital environment, where both worlds seamlessly merge."

The ring element was also carried into the series's coffee machine, which features a similar stainless steel facade.

The machine can be switched between a simple preparation and Barista mode for the more serious coffee drinker.

Other appliances in the Expressive series include a rectangular warming drawer that comes in various sizes and a vacuuming drawer for preserving food, marinating or sous-vide cooking.

All the appliances in the series can be stacked or arranged in a variety of layouts to meet the needs of the individual chef.

"The Gaggenau Expressive series stands out because it transforms the kitchen space into something beyond functionality," said Gaggenau industrial designer Alexander Stuhler.

"It's about delight and pleasure – people connect with this appliance because it creates a unique experience."

Gaggenau has been crafting high-quality home appliances since 1683. Based in Germany, the brand is represented in more than 50 countries, with 60 flagships and showrooms worldwide.

Dezeen previously teamed up with the brand for a panel at Milan design week 2024 and a series of webinars on spectacular houses around the world.
